As a digital copywriter for Target, I did my best to squeeze as many puns as possible into every sentence. Kidding! In reality, I worked with a super talented team of writers, designers, creative directors, project managers and other partners. Together, we brought hundreds of concepts to life every week.
At Target, I learned a lot about the art of the headline. I wrote for Target.com homepage, app homescreen, email & push. For any of these channels, my focus was on the guest’s experience. I wanted to make sure they’re getting the info they need in a voice that feels fresh, fun and right… on target. ;) Forgive me.

At Public Works, I was assigned the sweet task of helping to refresh Truvia’s website.
First, I partnered with our digital strategist to crawl reviews and comments, searching for insights from current Truvia users and creating audience personas. I worked specifically on the diabetes-related content, and collaborated with creative Casey Nelson on the rest of the web copy. View the full site at Truvia.com. Get your laughs out now, because we’re about to talk about side dumps. SmithCo is a manufacturer of side dump trailers, located in Le Mars, Iowa. They came to Strother needing key messages, brand positioning, and a strong marketing strategy in order to grow.
In addition to creating a multi-industry ad plan, I wrote copy for SmithCo’s updated website, digital and print ads, and social media. I also collaborated with the creative team in the production of SmithCo’s first video and regularly updated content resources like the learning center and blog. SmithCo outranks their competition in SEO month over month, and with their new GoogleAds campaign, they are side dumping content to a larger audience than ever.

DAKA Docks & Lifts, a family-owned business that manufactures (you guessed it) lake docks and lifts, was falling behind their competitors, especially online. Along with developing a digital strategy, we worked to simplify and streamline boatloads of detailed information .
I worked with the design team at Strother to reorganize and renew DAKA’s website and sales collateral with copy that’s friendly to the reader and search engine alike. With their website now easily searchable and products well defined, DAKA is getting more docks out the door than ever before.
